Cookies

One cookie that keeps you signed in and one that remembers your language. No advertising cookies, no third-party cookies, and therefore no cookie banner. That’s the short version, and the long one isn’t much longer.

This is a translation. The Icelandic version prevails if the versions differ.

1. The cookies we set

Sign-in cookie. When you sign in, your browser gets one cookie with a random key that tells us it’s you. It lasts a week from your last visit, is only sent over an encrypted connection and can’t be read from JavaScript. It disappears when you sign out.

Language cookie. If you choose English or Polish at the bottom of the page, we remember that in one cookie, so you land on the right language next time. It contains the language and nothing else.

Sign-in flow. While you are signing in with Apple or Google, we set one or two cookies for a few minutes to make sure the response that comes back belongs to the sign-in you started. They are deleted as soon as the sign-in completes.

That’s all. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, no cookies from other companies. We don’t know which other sites you visit and have no interest in it.

2. What your browser keeps for you

A few things are stored in your browser, not with us, so you don’t lose work or have to pick the same thing again: a draft of a listing you’re writing, its photos if you aren’t signed in, whether you want the market as a grid or a list, and a note that you have already viewed a particular listing during this visit, so views aren’t counted twice. None of this reaches us and you can clear it in your browser settings at any time.

3. Statistics without cookies

We want to know whether the site is fast and which pages are viewed. For that we use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count visits without setting a cookie or storing anything in the browser. You are counted once per visit based on a number computed on the server and discarded at the end of the day. It isn’t tracked across other sites and doesn’t tell us who you are.

5. If anything changes

If we ever add a cookie that isn’t necessary, for example for a paid service, we’ll update this page and ask you first. The date of the last change is shown at the top of the page.
